Yes, in certain circumstances. For less serious offences, police bail or prosecutor bail can be arranged before a first court appearance. We assist with after-hours bail applications, whether police or prosecutor bail.
What happens at a bail application?
The court weighs the interests of justice against your right to liberty — considering the seriousness of the charge, flight risk, and the strength of the state's case. Schedule 5 and 6 offences place a heavier burden on the accused, which makes proper preparation critical.
What should I do if I am arrested?
Exercise your right to remain silent beyond identifying yourself, do not make a statement before speaking to an attorney, and contact a lawyer as soon as possible. Early legal intervention materially affects both bail and the trial that follows.
